1. How frequently do 'calls for proposals' recur?

Calls for proposals are usually issued twice a year. An indicative calendar of calls for proposals is contained in the ICT Work-Programme, but dates can sometimes differ. In the last years, deadlines for submitting proposals in the ICT programme have been in March-April and September. To be updated on current and future calls, go to http://cordis.europa.eu/

2. Is there is a particular format I can refer to, to submit the project proposal?

Yes, you have to submit your proposal according to a format established by the European Commission. Project formats change depending on the type of proposal you are submitting (IP, STREP, SSA and so on). You can download the right format from the Cordis web-site at http://cordis.europa.eu

3. How can I check on the status of approval of my project, after I've submitted the proposal?

After submission, projects are evaluated by panels of independent experts appointed by the European Commission. Evaluation is totally independent. On the basis of the evaluation a ranking of projects is established, which is the basis for the selection of funded projects by the European Commission. After this phase the EC inform project proposers of the outcome of their proposal. Organisations whose proposals are retained for funding are invited to start negotiations with the EC for the implementation of their project.

4. Who do IPR and projects result belongs to?

There is no standard rule to attribute the IPR deriving from a research project. This is left to the autonomous decision of the consortium, but it has to be clearly defined within the project framework, either via a consortium agreement, or through specific agreements.

5. If I'm a company\SME \research institute\university etc do I have to carry out the research in the place other than where im residing? for e.g. if I am an Indian do I have to carry it out in Europe or can I work in India?

Locations where research activities are carried out are defined in the project work-plan and contract. Activities to be carried out in India by Indian partners are fully eligible.
INCITE is supported by the European Commission under the FP6 IST Programme.
